June 27-July 1
UNCA Computer Lab
Morning: Python Coder
Afternoon: Going Green with Minecraft
Coding: Python Coder!
Students will learn about turtles—little arrows students use to program. Students will use turtles to learn loops, methods to make drawing numbers/shapes easier, and conditionals which change the way the turtle will move based on what they tell it to do. These techniques will help students learn how python works, and how to program, while keeping it fun. Camps for Kids in Grades 3-5 and 6-8.
Game-Based Learning: Go Green with Minecraft
Using the popular Minecraft Education Edition, our campers will go on a journey into the world of environmental sustainability and explore components such as sustainable homes, managing waste products, clean electricity generation, responsible forestry, and more. They will build their own hydropower plant and learn that building a sustainable future actually empowers the economy and quality of life! Camps for Kids in Grades 3-5 and 6-8.
July 11-15
UNCA Classroom
Morning: Interactive Engineering
Afternoon: Advanced Robotics
Interactive Engineering
What is Engineering? Our students will use the Engineering Design Process to help solve problems and participate in hands-on challenges to explore construction, aerodynamics, structures, forces, and circuits. They will discover that they have the talent and potential for designing and improving technologies. Camps for kids in grades 3-5 and 6-8.
Engineering: Advanced Robotics
Work with our robotics experts to build more complex robot systems using our LEGO EV3 Robotics System! Learn about sensors and motors, the scientific method, forces, and design through exploring scientific and engineering concepts. Camps for Kids in Grades 3-5 and 6-8.
Please Note: Camp details will be emailed the week before camp begins. Given the size of the UNCA campus, the safety of campers is our top priority. There will be a specific drop-off/pick-up location on the UNCA campus. A uniformed Zaniac instructor will meet the campers at the drop-off location, escort them directly to the camp location, and then at the end of camp will escort them back to the pick-up location.
